About

Dr. Ashlen Skelton, D.C.
For years, I struggled with symptoms no one could explain — acne, bloating, anxiety, stomach pain, hormonal chaos, and exhaustion that left me barely functioning. Every doctor told me I was “fine.”
But I wasn’t fine.
And deep down, I knew it.
When I finally discovered chiropractic care, functional testing, nourishment, and non‑toxic living, everything changed. My body healed. My mind cleared. My energy returned. I finally felt like myself again — the way God designed me to feel.
Now I help other women, children, and families experience that same freedom — without dismissal, confusion, or overwhelm.
I’m a graduate of Iowa State University and Palmer College of Chiropractic. As a Webster certified chiropractor and a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) — I specialize in safe, gentle, and effective chiropractic care for pregnancy, babies, and children.
Outside the office, you’ll usually find me with my husband and daughter. We love exploring our city together — especially hunting down the best new breakfast spots in town. Slow mornings, good coffee, and family time are some of my favorite ways to recharge.
Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care focuses on restoring healthy motion and alignment in the spine so the nervous system can function the way God designed it to. When the spine moves well, the body communicates well — supporting better sleep, digestion, mood, development, and overall well‑being.Sometimes, certain joints in the spine become restricted and stop moving the way they should. When this happens, it can create pain, tension, and discomfort. Restricted joints also force the surrounding joints to move too much, which can place extra stress on those areas and predispose them to future dysfunction or degenerative changes.By restoring proper movement in the restricted joints, chiropractic adjustments can alleviate pain, reduce stress on the surrounding joints, and help prevent long‑term wear or degeneration.

Dr. Ashlen uses a variety of hands‑on techniques to suit each patient’s unique needs. Most commonly, she utilizes chiropractic manipulation techniques taught through the Motion Palpation Institute, known for their hands-on precise, movement‑based approach to restoring proper joint function. She may also incorporate low‑force techniques, including:
• Low‑velocity joint mobilizations
• Thompson Drop Technique
• Activator‑style instrument adjustingThese gentle, effective methods allow her to tailor care for pregnancy, babies, children, and adults — ensuring every adjustment is safe, comfortable, and specific to your body. Her goal is simple:
to help your family feel aligned, supported, and able to thrive

Prenatal Chiropractic CarePregnancy brings incredible physical changes. As a Webster certified chiropractor, Dr. Ashlen utilizes specialized prenatal chiropractic care to gently balance the pelvis, relieve sacral and round ligament tension, and create optimal space for baby to settle into position. 1 Safe and effective through every trimester, gentle adjustments support a more comfortable pregnancy and smoother labor and delivery.

Chiropractic Care for FamiliesFrom busy moms to active kids to hard‑working dads, chiropractic care helps the whole family move, function, and feel better.
Regular adjustments support posture, energy, stress regulation, and nervous system balance — helping your family not just get through the day, but truly thrive together.
Chiropractic Care for InfantsBirth is beautiful, but it can also be physically stressful for a baby’s delicate spine and nervous system. Infant chiropractic care uses extremely gentle pressure (similar to checking a ripe tomato) to support healthy development, digestion, sleep, and overall comfort.
Many parents seek care for colic, reflux, latching challenges, torticollis, constipation, and general fussiness — or simply to help their baby thrive from the very beginning.
Chiropractic Care for ChildrenKids grow, learn, and explore constantly — which means their nervous systems are always adapting. Chiropractic care helps support their development, coordination, immune function, and emotional regulation.
Parents often notice improvements in focus, behavior, sleep, posture, sports performance, and overall calm. Care is gentle, playful, and designed to meet kids exactly where they are.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you take insurance?
I am a cash‑based practice, which allows me to provide longer visits, personalized care, and recommendations that truly support your health — not what insurance limits. Patients can use HSA/FSA funds for visits.
Please note: I am not in‑network with any insurance providers.
As a courtesy for our patients, we can assist with out‑of‑network reimbursement by providing a superbill you can submit to your insurance.Do you take X‑rays?
I do not take X‑rays in the clinic. Because much of my practice focuses on babies, kids, and pregnancy, imaging is rarely needed to begin care. If I ever feel an X‑ray is clinically necessary, I will refer you to a trusted local imaging center and guide you through the processWhat can I expect at my first chiropractic visit?
Your initial visit includes a full consultation, exam, and your first adjustment. We’ll review your health history, discuss your goals, and create a plan that supports your body’s natural ability to heal.Is chiropractic care safe for babies and kids?
Yes — pediatric chiropractic care is extremely gentle and tailored to a child’s developing spine and nervous system. Adjustments for babies use light pressure (similar to checking the ripeness of a tomato) and low‑force techniques designed specifically for infants and children.Chiropractic care can support little ones through many common challenges, including:• Colic & digestive discomfort
Gentle adjustments help reduce nervous system tension and improve communication between the brain and gut, easing fussiness, gas, and discomfort.• Ear infections
Improving motion in the upper neck can support proper drainage of the Eustachian tubes, helping reduce fluid buildup and irritation.• Focus, behavior & calmness
A balanced nervous system helps kids regulate better. Many parents notice improvements in focus, mood, sleep, and overall calm after consistent care.• Immune health
The nervous system plays a major role in how the body responds to stress and illness. When the spine is moving well, the body can adapt more easily and maintain stronger overall wellness. How often will I need to come in?
Frequency depends on your goals, lifestyle, and what we find during your exam. Some people come weekly for wellness, others bi‑weekly or monthly. Memberships and packages make ongoing care simple and affordable. Can chiropractic care help during pregnancy?
Absolutely! Gentle prenatal chiropractic care helps balance the pelvis, reduce tension, support baby’s positioning, and promote a smoother, more comfortable pregnancy and birth. What if I’m nervous about getting adjusted?
You’re not alone — and you’re in good hands. I use a variety of gentle, low‑force techniques, so we can choose what feels best for your body.Do you see people who aren’t pregnant or parents?
Yes! I care for individuals of all ages, both males & females — adults, teens, kids, and families. Whether you’re dealing with pain, stress, gut issues, hormone imbalance, or simply want to feel better, you’re welcome here.Is Functional Medicine virtual?
Yes — all Functional Medicine consults are 100% virtual. This allows you to receive personalized, root‑cause care from the comfort of your home, no matter where you live (as long as your state allows it).Do I have to do both chiropractic and functional medicine?
Not at all. You can be seen for chiropractic care without functional medicine, and you can work with me for functional medicine without chiropractic care. Many people choose one or the other, and some choose both — it’s completely based on your needs and goals.
